This is a quick, simple and healthy recipe for a weekday dinner. I used basa fillet but you can use any type of fish fillet. Despite this recipe having only a few ingredients, the combination of soy sauce, fish sauce and sesame oil gives a very nice flavour to the fish fillets. You can serve this with a bowl of steam rice.

Steamed Fish Fillet with Spring Onion and Lemon

Ingredients:
  • 2 x 100g fish fillets
  • 2 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 strip of spring onion, finely chopped
  • Small piece of ginger, crushed
  • 2 slices of lemon
Preparation:
  • Place fish fillets in a plate that will fit inside a steamer.
  • Pour soy sauce, fish sauce and sesame oil over the fish fillets, then sprinkle with spring onion and ginger.
  • Place 2 slices of lemon on top.

  • Place the plate inside the steamer and steam, covered for 5–6 minutes.

This sounds healthy and delicious. It seems like so many steamed dishes are bland... but this one doesn't sound bland at all. Thanks for sharing.

I never thought to put the whole plate set up as yours was in the photo, with everything ready to go! So super easy, healthy and delicious with a simple and perfect combo, of the soy sauce, fish sauce, lemon, and spring onions. Oh, and the sesame oil, well, that is a "must"...such great addition:D

What a great idea for steaming fish, I would never have thought to place a plate in the steamer. I bet it works so well for really flaky fish :)

Steamed fish is wonderful...so tasty and healthy! It's a little harder to get fresh fish (not previously frozen) here in the Mid West but when I do find it, I like to steam it too :)
